Non-Striker's End
We all witnessed a spectacle this year. Arguably, the best
one day international in history of cricket. Though the competitors were
Englishmen and Kiwis, in the nick of time, it was nerve wrecking for the entire
world.
When I call the game to mind, I remember Ben stokes and Mark
Wood at the crease, Ben taking stance and two runs to be scored of the last
delivery.

Stress level up to 200%
Trent Boult grips the ball and starts running with serious pace. Two runs needed of the last ball.
Boult delivers a full-toss (anti-climax :p)
“That's knocked towards long-on. 1 run – completed. Neesham
collects and throws the ball, Wood running towards the danger end, Boult whips
off the bails. Out!”
Hearts stopped!
The game too. Not for long though. A thrilling super over
was on its way! The game did go right down the wire and as we all know, England
prevailed in the screamer!
Stokes was the star of the show and yeah why not? He took
his team to victory. I can’t process how he could handle his nerves in the middle.
He certainly deserved the laudation. Though he was the one who took charge,
Mark Wood, who had the best seat in the house, kept his cool at the other end.
Isn’t that what a non-striker does? Hopes that his partner
plays the right shot? just like any other spectator. Or does he have a bigger
role? He definitely feels the same pressure in the middle, can’t go to the other
end and take charge though. He can pass advice and share experiences but has
to place his bet on the other guy’s choice.
I feel, we are all non-strikers in someone else’s story. And
these “someones” are special people who we care to build an innings with. Our
happiness and sadness is somewhat attached to them. We can share all our good
and bad experiences with these people to help them make better decisions but at
the end of the day it’s their call to take.
When things go south, we're left with uncanny feelings to deal with. In personal terms, the
hardest place to be in. Sometimes you wish you could go to the other side and
take things in your own hands. But it’s not your sitch to deal with. The best you
can do is to stick around the other end.
It can be strenuous to be a non-striker for someone. But holding
on is the key. Even if you lose the game, you still get to walk to the pavilion
together.

How can someone be soo good to be true... Uff! Sharma ji beta strikes again, as usual! I sooo loved this one! :) Keep writing!
