How Good is your Journey?
"is haar ka bojh kitna bhaari hai... ye
tumhe shayad abhi samajh me nahi aayega"
Most of us are familiar to this dialogue from Srk’s stunner
‘Chak De! India’. I recently watched it again. Kabir Khan knows what it’s
like to be down & out and comes back in a new avatar to coach the Indian
National Women’s Hockey team, a rag-tag bunch of girls who had bygone team
spirit, played for themselves and not the nation. Kabir unites the
underestimated women to achieve a common goal above their individual interests
& they end up winning the world cup.
HAPPY ENDING!
Let me take you back to the scene when srk
forewarns the two lead strikers that they are too weak to bear the affliction
of defeat. Was it really “winning or nothing” for them that day? Wasn’t it
enough for a group which was merely a team on paper and not in reality, to step
up, value relationships, work as a team and reach the finals of the world cup. Was
their journey worthless?
Life is a journey. A journey with an utmost destination – Death. One can never ‘reach’ his destination because there are no other destinations in life, just milestones. Once you reach a milestone, there’s
another one loitering in the queue. We all keep waiting for that “one day”
which never comes and it won’t come because it’s not meant to come. So why do
we emphasise so much on triumphs in life that we fail to savour its little
moments? Let me tell you a story. My brother was always a “sore loser”. Many times I had to “make him win” and whenever he lost he was infuriated. I always
advised him that he should “play to enjoy” and not to win but he took it
earnestly after so many years.
What if you and me decide to play cards together? I keep the
pack of cards back in my pocket and say “I declare you victorious for the next
10 games already. Let’s not play.” Will the victory be worth it? A victory is
valuable only when its accompanied by hard work, fun and struggle, all of which
are integrants of the journey. Though this article was solely focussed on the
significance of journey so far, I believe that both journey and destination are
equally important in life and hence can’t be compared but it is our journey
that we can control and not the destination.
The Brother’s Theory
In my own conceit, journey, in life, is like a younger
brother whereas destination is the elder one. Whenever there are allegations on
your potential, you achievements come to the rescue like an elder brother who protects
you but you don’t have complete control over him. On the contrary, you have
complete control over your younger brother and hence you can handle him in your
own way. Both of them are important, ain't they?
If you feel that your journey is constantly strengthening you
intellectually, physically or emotionally, you should keep walking and never
worry about the destination because you’ll end up becoming a better individual ultimately.
Don’t you think so?
Looking forward to a lot of frequent blogging sessions from
now on. Do suggest me subjects which you think would suit my style of writing
and even if they don’t, I am always open to challenges, that’s what makes my journey interesting!
